Short answer: on paper, GirlfriendGPT is the community-character option with message-based plans and an Android download, while Candy.ai is the simpler package, with one Premium plan and a cheaper annual promotion. The catch with GirlfriendGPT is that its published prices may be out of date. The catch with Candy.ai is that it publishes very little beyond the prices.
This is a test drive, not a crash test. I compared the official homepages, terms, privacy policies and community rules, checked on Oct 25, 2026, and I did not pay for either service.

Pricing
GirlfriendGPT is the harder one to pin down, so I will start there.
GirlfriendGPT
The only prices I could find are in the FAQ on the official homepage, checked on Oct 25, 2026. The plans page returned “not found”, and the checkout is behind a login.
| GirlfriendGPT plan (homepage FAQ) | Price |
|---|---|
| Basic Plan | USD 5/month |
| Premium Plan | USD 10/month |
| Deluxe Plan | USD 35/month |
There is a mismatch I cannot resolve from outside. The FAQ names Basic, Premium and Deluxe. The plan text inside the site names Premium, Deluxe and Elite. So treat these prices as possibly stale. What the plan text says each tier includes:
- Premium: 5,000 messages and 400 coins a month, uncensored chats, images and videos, 5-second custom videos, voice messages
- Deluxe: 20,000 messages and 1,200 coins a month, twice the chatbot memory, 10-second videos, faster generation, voice calls
- Elite: unlimited messages, 2,000 coins a month, eight times the chatbot memory, the best chat and video models; billed annually, price not published
What a coin buys and what top-ups cost are not published. Payments go through CCBill or TrustPay, with Visa, Mastercard and Discover shown.
Candy.ai
As listed on the official subscription page on Oct 25, 2026. Prices showed in EUR, likely because of my location, and the longer plans are labelled as discounts against a EUR 13.99 list price.
| Candy.ai plan | Price | Billing |
|---|---|---|
| Premium, 12 months | EUR 3.99/month (EUR 47.88 a year), “70% OFF” | Annual, auto-renews at the same price and term |
| Premium, 3 months | EUR 8.99/month (EUR 26.97 a quarter), “35% OFF” | Quarterly |
| Premium, 1 month | EUR 9.99 first month (“29% OFF”), then EUR 13.99/month | Monthly |
All plans include your own characters, 18+ images and video, unlimited text messages and 100 tokens a month. Token top-up prices and per-image costs are not on the official pages I read. Tokens expire when the subscription ends.
Comparing the two directly is shaky. GirlfriendGPT’s USD 5 entry price is low but unconfirmed, and it is unclear what Basic includes. Candy.ai’s EUR 3.99 needs a year upfront and is a promotion.
Refunds and cancelling
GirlfriendGPT’s terms say paid subscriptions are not refunded, except where the company made a mistake or there was a technical problem. If you paid through CCBill, you ask CCBill. Otherwise you ask GirlfriendGPT support, and requests are reviewed case by case. Stricter local consumer laws still apply. You cancel on the “manage subscription” page or in your CCBill account, and the plan ends at the end of the billing cycle with no refund for the unused part.
Candy.ai allows a refund request within 24 hours of payment, refused if you used more than 20 tokens on a subscription, card purchases only. EU and UK buyers have a 14-day withdrawal right on the first purchase. You cancel in settings.
Free plan
Both offer one. GirlfriendGPT says a bit more about it.
- GirlfriendGPT: the privacy policy says you get “a free test of a few messages” before you have to register. After that, plan text describes the free tier as “Free 20 messages”, limited in-chat pictures and limited custom characters. The site text also mentions a free trial of its “Elite Chat Model”; the trial terms are not published.
- Candy.ai: “Join Free” and a mentioned free trial, with no published limits. Premium advertises unlimited text messages, which suggests the free plan is capped.
Neither is generous on paper. GirlfriendGPT at least gives a number.
Features
The main difference is where characters come from. GirlfriendGPT leans on a community library of user-made characters. Candy.ai leans on its own pre-made characters and a builder.
GirlfriendGPT, per its homepage and download page:
- Custom character creation (appearance, personality, behaviour)
- A library of community-created characters
- Image generation, including an anime-style generator
- In-chat video, with lite and pro models
- Voice messages and voice calls on higher tiers
- Long-term memory that scales with the plan
- Installable web app for iOS, Android and desktop, plus an Android APK from its own website
Candy.ai, per its homepage and subscription page:
- Text chat and roleplay with pre-made or custom characters
- Character builder for appearance, personality, voice and hobbies
- Image and video generation (Premium)
- Voice
- AI girlfriend, AI boyfriend and anime categories
- Browser web app you can add to your home screen
A note on the Android APK. Installing an app from a website rather than Google Play skips the store’s review and its refund route. That is your call, but go in knowing it. The web app does the same job without the sideload.
Neither has a confirmed App Store or Google Play listing. GirlfriendGPT’s terms mention app stores, but I found no store listing.
Privacy and safety
As read in the official policies on Oct 25, 2026.
| GirlfriendGPT | Candy.ai | |
|---|---|---|
| Chat data use | Privacy policy does not mention training AI on chats; data may be used “to develop new tools”; not sold or transferred without consent except as described | Privacy notice lists training and developing AI and moderation models, with possible human review of de-identified chats; third-party model providers may receive message content |
| Deletion | Right to erasure on request via Support; no self-service tool described | Email [email protected] or [email protected]; no self-service tool described |
| Retention | Usually 6 years after the account is closed | Account data 3 years after last activity, financial data 10 years, logs 30 days |
| Age checks | 18+; an age-verification step in the site, method and provider not named | Age gate; may add further checks; age verification providers listed as data recipients |
| Real people | Bans impersonation and “uploading images of others without their consent”; terms warn that using a celebrity’s likeness without consent will be acted on | Bans images that resemble real persons, non-consensual intimate imagery and impersonation |
Neither offers a delete button. Both make you ask. GirlfriendGPT then keeps data for about six years after the account closes, which is the longest window on this page.
On training, GirlfriendGPT’s policy is quieter than Candy.ai’s. It does not say it trains on your chats, but it does not say it doesn’t, either. Candy.ai says plainly that it does.
On real people, both have a rule. Candy.ai’s is broader: it bans images that resemble real persons, however they were made. GirlfriendGPT’s rule is about uploading other people’s photos without consent and impersonation, plus a warning on celebrity likeness. It is a rule, but a narrower one, and I would not use either service with a real person in mind.
What users complain about
- GirlfriendGPT: reviewers on Trustpilot mention an image generator that returns near-identical results whatever the prompt, slowness, and features not working as advertised. The sample is tiny: 2.7/5 from only four reviews on an unclaimed profile, seen Oct 25, 2026. Treat it as a hint, not a verdict.
- Candy.ai: its Trustpilot profile has been removed by Trustpilot, and Reddit was not reachable by my research tools. I have no user complaints to report.
Who should pick which
On paper, and hedged accordingly:
- Pick GirlfriendGPT if you want a large library of community characters, message-count plans you can size to your use, or an Android install. Confirm the current price at checkout first, since the published figures may be out of date.
- Pick Candy.ai if you want one simple Premium plan with images, video and unlimited messages, and you are willing to pay a year upfront for the promotional EUR 47.88 price. Its broader real-person rule is also a point in its favour.
- Look elsewhere if easy deletion matters to you. Neither has a delete button, and both keep data for years. The OurDream AI test drive and Secrets AI test drive both describe self-service deletion.

FAQ
How much does GirlfriendGPT cost?
The official homepage FAQ lists a Basic Plan at USD 5 a month, Premium at USD 10 and Deluxe at USD 35, checked on Oct 25, 2026. The plan names inside the site differ, and the Elite plan's price is not published, so check the checkout before you pay.
Is GirlfriendGPT free?
You get a free test of a few messages, then a free account that plan text describes as 20 messages with limited pictures and characters. Higher message counts, voice and longer videos need a paid plan.
Is GirlfriendGPT cheaper than Candy.ai?
Possibly, month to month: USD 5 or USD 10 against Candy.ai's EUR 9.99 first month and EUR 13.99 after. On an annual basis, Candy.ai's promotional EUR 47.88 a year is the clearer low price. GirlfriendGPT's figures may be outdated.
Does GirlfriendGPT have an app?
There is an installable web app for iOS, Android and desktop, and an Android APK you can download from its website. I found no App Store or Google Play listing. Candy.ai is browser-only, with a home-screen shortcut.
How do I cancel GirlfriendGPT or Candy.ai?
GirlfriendGPT: on the "manage subscription" page, or in your CCBill account if you paid that way; access runs to the end of the billing cycle, with no refund for the unused part. Candy.ai: in your account settings, with refunds only within 24 hours and 20 tokens of use.
