Secrets AI test drive

Secrets AI is a browser-based AI companion service with chat, audio calls, AI images and video, plus short story content it calls Reels and Shorts. It has a real free tier of 20 messages a day, and paid plans start at USD 19.99 a month, or USD 9.17 a month billed yearly. This is a test drive based on the free sign-up and the official pages; a full crash test is coming.

What it is

Secrets AI is a companion chat app first, with generation built around it. You talk to characters, call them, generate images and video, and watch short mini-dramas in the Reels and Shorts sections.

The company is Secret Labs Inc., with a Dover, Delaware address. Its terms describe it as registered in both Canada and the United States and governed by the laws of British Columbia, as checked on Oct 25, 2026. It is not on the Apple App Store or Google Play. The official wiki says to install it as a web app from Safari or Chrome.

Free plan

Secrets AI is one of the few services here that publishes its free limits. Per the official wiki on subscription tiers, checked on Oct 25, 2026, the free tier costs USD 0 and includes:

• 20 messages a day (up to 100 for custom characters)
• A 500-character limit per message
• Audio calls
• Basic memory
• 0 monthly Moments, and you cannot buy Moments
• No video generation

Twenty messages is enough to see whether you like the writing. It is not enough for a long evening.

Prices

Prices are from the official help wiki (wiki.secrets.ai), as checked on Oct 25, 2026. The live checkout did not load for reading, so check the price at checkout.

Premium adds unlimited messages, a 10% bonus on Moment purchases, video generation, Lorebooks, enhanced memory, Time Travel and priority support.

Ultimate adds everything in Premium plus a 15% purchase bonus, group chats with two or three companions, personas, proactive messaging and custom personality editing.

Older Lite and Plus tiers exist but are being retired. I did not check their prices.

What Moments buy

Moments are the in-app currency. Example costs from the wiki:

Monthly grants reset and do not roll over. Purchased Moments do not expire. You need Premium or Ultimate to buy them, and top-up pack prices are not listed on the official pages. Failed generations refund the Moments automatically, per the wiki.

Refunds and payment

The refund policy says Moment purchases are final and non-refundable, except for billing errors or where the law requires otherwise.

You can pay with Visa, Mastercard or Discover, or crypto (300+ coins, USD 20 minimum). G2A prepaid keys are offered as a last resort. The wiki says card statements show “S LABS INC”.

File and image uploads are not supported, according to the privacy policy.

Privacy and safety

Age checks. Secrets AI is 18+ only. The underage policy describes an age gate, age checks at registration, AI-assisted monitoring for signs of underage users, and extra verification on request, with accounts suspended until verified. No provider is named.

Chat data. The privacy policy lists using data to “train and improve our AI models”. Text you send in chats may be stored. Voice calls are transcribed and the audio is deleted straight away.

Deletion. There is a “Delete Account” option in profile settings. The privacy policy says your personal information and chat history are deleted immediately. Transaction records are kept 7 years and security logs up to 12 months.

Content rules. The prohibited content policy bans sexual content showing identifiable real people without verified consent, including deepfakes and content that resembles a specific real person. It also bans impersonating celebrities, public figures or private people.

What users complain about

These come from a small sample of visible low-star reviews on Trustpilot, so read them as signals, not a verdict:

• Image quality. Some reviewers say generated images are inaccurate and do not follow prompts.
• Memory and repetition. Some say the AI invents details when it cannot recall earlier chats, or repeats itself.
• Removals. One reviewer reported deleted images and companions. The company replied that characters designed to look underage were removed.
• Tier value. One reviewer saw little difference between the paid tiers.

The research tools could not reach Reddit.

My take

On paper, Secrets AI is the most transparent of the companion apps I have test driven so far. The free limits, plan contents and per-action costs are all published.

What to watch:

• Video is expensive in Moments. At 600 to 1,200 per 5 seconds, Premium’s 8,000 a month covers well under a minute.
• Monthly Moments do not roll over, so unused ones are lost.
• Chats can be used to train models.
• Some reviewers say memory slips. The crash test will check that.
