On paper, SpicyChat covers most of the basics: a named company in Canada, a written age-verification process run by a third party, card and crypto payment options, self-serve account deletion and some of the strictest real-person rules I have read on an adult chat site. The weak spots are a very broad licence over your chats, no clear answer on model training, and two privacy issues with uploaded images that SpicyChat itself lists as known. Here is what the official pages said on Oct 25, 2026.
This is a test drive. I read SpicyChat’s terms, community guidelines and help docs. I did not pay for a plan, and nothing below is a claim about hands-on use.
The short answer
SpicyChat is a real company with public rules, which already puts it ahead of some sites in this category. Nothing in its official pages is alarming in the way a known data breach would be.
But “safe” has two parts here. The platform side looks reasonably organised. The data side asks for a lot of trust: the terms give SpicyChat wide rights over what you write, and they say operators may read messages sent to the service. If you treat every chat as something a stranger at the company could see, you are using it the way its own terms describe.
Who runs it
According to its terms, SpicyChat is run by NextDay AI Incorporated, based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The terms also name two subsidiaries: NextDay AI USA Inc in Delaware and NextDay AI EU Ltd in Cyprus.
The same company runs GirlfriendGPT, according to that site’s terms. That matters if you are comparing the two as if they were separate businesses. They are not.
SpicyChat’s FAQ says the team is sixty people, led by a founder who goes by “Booster”. A pen name at the top is not unusual in this industry (I am in no position to judge), but it does mean the legal entity in the terms is the name that counts.
Knowing the country helps if something goes wrong. A Canadian company with an EU subsidiary sits under privacy laws you can actually point to, which is more than many adult AI sites offer.
Age verification
SpicyChat’s community guidelines say all users must be at least 18. On top of that, its official Age Verification page describes a check that applies when you connect from:
- France
- The UK
- Italy
- Australia
- 26 US states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WY and WV
The check is handled by third-party verification partners. SpicyChat does not name the provider. In most regions you verify with a video selfie, with an ID check as a fallback if the selfie cannot confirm your age. Some regions only accept an ID check with face match.
The privacy design is sensible on paper. SpicyChat says it never sees, receives or stores the images or documents used. The partner makes a yes or no decision and deletes the data under its own privacy standards. What you cannot check is the partner’s own policy, because the partner is not named.
A few other details from the same page:
- Your region is decided by your current IP address, not where you signed up.
- If you do not verify, you can still use the platform, but NSFW content is blocked.
- Verification is tied to your account, not your device, and is usually one-time. Some jurisdictions may require re-verification.
Outside those regions, the page does not describe any check beyond the 18+ rule. Some Trustpilot reviewers object to the facial-scan and account-linked checks, which is a trade-off you should know about before you start.
Payments
SpicyChat’s support page lists four ways to pay:
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| Credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex) | On the website, activates instantly, renews |
| Pay By Bank | One-time payment, does not auto-renew |
| Boosty | Your Boosty email must match your SpicyChat email |
| Crypto via CoinPayments | Linked manually, processed within six hours during Eastern daytime |
Pay By Bank is the interesting one for privacy-minded readers: it is a one-time payment, so there is nothing to forget to cancel. Card subscriptions are managed from the “Manage Subscription” button in your profile or the account portal. The support page does not describe cancelling Boosty or crypto payments.
Two things are not published in the docs: the refund policy and the name that appears on your bank statement. If a discreet statement matters to you, ask support before you pay.
Prices rose on Sep 8, 2026, according to SpicyChat’s pricing FAQ. As listed there on Oct 25, 2026, Get A Taste is $5.95 a month, True Supporter $19.95 and I’m All In $29.95. Existing subscribers keep their old price while the plan stays active and unchanged. Full details are in the SpicyChat test drive.
There is no iOS app to pay through anymore. SpicyChat’s notice dated Aug 27, 2025 says Apple removed the app from the App Store for not complying with its guidelines. The Android app is an APK downloaded from SpicyChat’s own site, not Google Play. That means no app-store billing and no app-store refund route; you deal with SpicyChat directly.
Your chat data
This is the part to read slowly.
What the terms allow
SpicyChat’s terms grant the company a perpetual, irrevocable, sublicensable licence to use chatbots, chats and generations. They also state that operators may read messages sent to the service, while employee access to chats is restricted by internal policy. The privacy policy says personal data is used to provide and improve the service.
In plain English: you keep writing, they keep a very wide right to use what you write, forever, and staff access is limited by a policy you cannot see.
Model training
Whether your chats are used to train AI models is not stated explicitly in the pages I checked. The docs do say that star ratings on messages send feedback to the SpicyChat team to help improve the language model. “Used to improve the service” could cover a lot. I would not assume your chats are excluded.
Other users and creators
One clear point in your favour: the docs say your chats are private and not viewable by the character’s creator. So the person who made the bot cannot read your conversation with it. If you report a message, it goes to the moderation team for review.
Two known image issues
SpicyChat runs a public bug bounty program, which is a good sign in itself. Its security page also lists two known issues that matter for privacy:
- Uploaded images, such as profile pictures, may keep their original metadata. That can include device details, timestamps and, in some cases, GPS coordinates.
- An uploaded image may stay reachable from its direct link for a period after the content or the account is deleted, until storage cleanup finishes. The link is unguessable, but it still exists.
The fix for you is simple: do not upload real photos, and if you upload anything, strip the location data first. SpicyChat says it is working on the metadata issue.
Deleting your account
The docs give the steps:
- Go to Profile and scroll to the bottom.
- Open Advanced.
- Select Delete Account and confirm.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be restored. You can reuse the same email for a new account later. You can also delete individual saved chats with a Delete button inside each conversation.
The privacy policy says you may request deletion of personal data and chat history, subject to legal retention, through account settings or support. Data-access and GDPR deletion requests go to customer support, according to the security page.
Cancel billing first. Deleting the account is not the same as stopping a card subscription, and the docs do not say one triggers the other.
Content rules, real people and deepfakes
SpicyChat’s community guidelines are strict on real people, stricter than most sites I have read. They prohibit:
- Chatbots based on real private or lesser-known individuals
- Uploading real photographs or AI portraits that resemble actual people, public or private
- Edited photos of real people, including composites, morphs and deepfakes, under all circumstances
- Hyper-realistic or photorealistic images that could be mistaken for real people
- Pornographic content so photorealistic it cannot easily be told apart from real photos
Public figures may inspire bots, but only without real or realistic imagery, and not if the person has said publicly that they do not want to be sexualized.
The guidelines also ban underage content, non-consensual scenarios, incest and family role-play of any kind, and say bots with youthful demeanours are reviewed individually even if listed as 18 or older. SpicyChat reserves the right to act on extreme off-site behaviour too.
These rules are a large part of why I am comfortable covering SpicyChat at all. A platform with no deepfake rule would not get a recommendation here.
Outages, moderation and user complaints
SpicyChat had a Trustpilot rating of 2.0/5 from 62 reviews when checked on Oct 25, 2026, a modest sample. The themes reviewers mention:
- Long queues, slow responses and login errors
- Automated moderation with no clear human route, and unhelpful support
- A restrictive free tier, with memory limits cutting off earlier parts of a chat
- Objections to facial-scan or account-linked age checks
- Repetitive replies and characters drifting from their traits
None of these is a security problem. But automated moderation with no human route is a real risk if you invest hours in characters and then get flagged. I did not find an official status page, so outage history could not be checked.
The free tier itself is small: 4,096 tokens of context and replies of up to 180 tokens, per the docs. Ads go away only from the first paid tier.
What is not published
To be fair to SpicyChat, these are gaps in what I could verify, not proof of a problem:
- Whether chats are used to train models
- The age-verification provider’s name
- The refund policy
- The billing descriptor on your statement
- How to cancel Boosty and crypto payments
- An official status or outage page
My verdict, on paper
SpicyChat is one of the better-documented platforms in this category. A named Canadian company, a third-party age check that keeps your ID away from SpicyChat, a one-time payment option, self-serve deletion and firm deepfake rules are all real positives.
The trade-off is your words. A perpetual licence over chats plus “operators may read messages” means you should write as if your chats are not private from the company. And the known image issues mean real photos do not belong on the platform at all.
If that trade is fine for you, SpicyChat is reasonable to try on the free tier. If you want a company that says less about owning your chats, compare the terms below before you pay.
Safer habits if you use it
- Keep real names, places and identifying details out of chats and personas.
- Do not upload real photos. If you upload any image, remove its location data first.
- Use Pay By Bank or crypto if you want to avoid a recurring charge.
- Sign up with an email you use only for this kind of site.
- Cancel billing before you delete the account.
If you want alternatives
- Secrets AI publishes its statement name (“S LABS INC” on card statements, per its wiki) and bans deepfakes and content resembling real people. Its free tier is 20 messages a day.
- Candy.ai says charges show as “EverAI” on your statement and its community guidelines ban images that resemble real persons. Prices are listed in EUR.
- CrushOn.AI is the closest in format, with user-made characters and an 8K-memory free plan, though it does not describe age verification for users.
- JanitorAI has a free tier, also bans deepfakes of identifiable people, and is covered in its own safety guide.
Avoid GirlfriendGPT if your concern is the company itself: it is run by the same NextDay AI group. The full list is on the SpicyChat alternatives page.
FAQ
Is SpicyChat safe to use?
On paper, mostly. It is run by a named Canadian company, uses third-party age checks in regulated regions, offers self-serve deletion and bans deepfakes and real-person imagery. The main concerns are a perpetual licence over your chats, an unclear position on model training and two known issues with uploaded images.
Does SpicyChat read your chats?
The terms say operators may read messages sent to the service, and employee access is restricted by internal policy. Character creators cannot see your chats, according to the docs.
Does SpicyChat need ID?
Only in some places. If you connect from France, the UK, Italy, Australia or 26 US states, you verify through a third-party partner, usually by video selfie with ID as a fallback. SpicyChat says it never sees or stores your images or documents.
How do I delete my SpicyChat account?
Go to Profile, scroll down, open Advanced and select Delete Account. It is permanent. Cancel any card subscription first from Manage Subscription.
Who owns SpicyChat?
NextDay AI Incorporated of Montreal, Canada, according to the terms, with subsidiaries in Delaware and Cyprus. The same company runs GirlfriendGPT.
