SoulGen is an AI image and video generator with a Soul Chat companion feature, sold as a Pro plan at $12.99 for one month or $90.99 for 12 months, as listed on the official pricing page on Oct 25, 2026. The yearly price is a first-purchase promotion. I am not recommending it: its site names no legal entity, its terms set no explicit 18+ rule, and they contain no explicit ban on deepfakes or images of real people. This is a test drive based on official pages only.
What it is
SoulGen generates AI images and videos. It offers image-to-video, text-to-video, AI character images in Real, DreamTwin and Anime styles, a “Human Modeling” tool, image editing and a companion chat called Soul Chat. Everything is paid with credits. It used to live at soulgen.net, which now redirects to soulgen.ai. The site also lists an API center.
Who runs it is not stated. The Terms say it is operated from Hong Kong under Hong Kong law, but the site names no legal entity. An App Store search result lists a developer called WAVE DANCE INTELLENGIC LIMITED, but that listing page returned a 404, so I cannot confirm it. A company-written Trustpilot profile gives a Kowloon, Hong Kong address that does not appear on soulgen.ai itself. If something goes wrong with a payment, you may not know who you are dealing with.
Apps. An iOS app “SoulGen – AI Girl Generator” and an Android app “SoulGen Lite – Official App” appeared in search results, but both listing pages returned 404 at check.
Free plan
Not confirmed. The site title calls it a “Free AI Video Generator”, but the pricing page lists no free plan and no free credit amount, as seen on Oct 25, 2026.
Prices
As listed on the official pricing page (soulgen.ai/pricing) on Oct 25, 2026, in USD.
| Plan | Price | Credits | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro, 1 month | $12.99 | 100/month | All features, remove blur, priority queue, multitask |
| Pro, 12 months | $90.99 (shown as $7.58/mo; promo, struck-through $155.88) | 1,200 for the year | Same Pro benefits |
The 12-month price is labelled “42% off” as a first-purchase promotion, so expect a different price later.
Does it renew? Unclear. The pricing page says “No recurring fees”, but the Terms use subscription language and explain cancelling through PayPal, the App Store and Google Play.
Refunds. The two documents disagree. The Terms say you get a refund only if you never created an image. The Return Policy allows refunds within 14 days if no credits were used. Used credits are non-refundable either way.
Credit costs
SoulGen publishes a per-action price list, which is more than most services do. From the pricing page on Oct 25, 2026:
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| AI Character image | 1 (2 with “Looks Like”) |
| Human Modeling | 3 per image |
| Smart Edit | 3 to 8 per image |
| Image-to-video, SoulGen 3.0 | 15 per 5 seconds (+2 with audio) |
| Image-to-video, SoulOmni 2.0 Turbo 1080P | 40 per 5 seconds |
| Soul Chat text | 0.2 per message |
| Soul Chat image | 2 |
| Soul Chat voice call | 1 per minute |
| Create a Soulmate | 10 |
Do the maths before you buy: the one-month Pro plan’s 100 credits cover six or so 5-second SoulGen 3.0 videos, or two at 1080P on SoulOmni.
Features
From the official homepage and pricing page, checked Oct 25, 2026:
- Video. Image-to-video, text-to-video, reference-to-video, video extend and edit, with optional audio.
- Images. AI character images (Real, DreamTwin, Anime) and Human Modeling.
- Editing. Smart Edit, Classic Edit and Extend (outpainting).
- Soul Chat. Text chat, images and voice calls with a companion.
- API center. Listed on the homepage.
Payment methods are not fully listed. The Terms mention PayPal, credit cards and App Store or Google Play subscriptions.
Privacy and safety
Age checks. This is the first red flag. The Terms require you to be of legal age to form a binding contract where you live, and they allow minors under parental supervision. I found no 18+ requirement in the Terms and no age-verification method. For a service that offers “remove blur” and was listed in app stores as an “AI Girl Generator”, that is a serious gap.
Real people and deepfakes. This is the second red flag. The Terms ban content “invasive of personal privacy or publicity rights” and content containing a third party’s private information without consent. They do not explicitly mention deepfakes, celebrities or generating images of real people. A tool that makes realistic human images needs a rule that says so in plain words. SoulGen’s does not.
Chat and image data. The Privacy Policy does not mention model training or selling data. Data is shared with contractors and service providers, with affiliates (with consent), with buyers in a merger and with authorities. Google Sign-In data is not used to generate images.
Deletion. This part is better than average. Creations you do not post to the community are auto-deleted after 7 days, there is a Delete button for creations, and Delete Account removes all app data, including purchase records, irreversibly. GDPR requests go by email.
What users complain about
There is very little to go on.
- Output quality and credits. A reviewer on Trustpilot, under soulgen.net, says video results are inconsistent and rarely match prompts, wasting credits on failed generations on both free and annual plans. That profile had a 2.8 out of 5 rating from only 3 reviews at check.
- Billing. A review on the “SoulGen Lite” Google Play listing reports subscription and restore-purchase problems.
Three reviews and one store comment are not a sample. Reddit complaints were not collected.
My take
I am not recommending SoulGen. On paper the product is broad, the per-action credit prices are unusually transparent, and the deletion tools are better than most. But three things matter more for an image generator: who runs it, who it is for, and whether it bans images of real people. SoulGen names no legal entity, sets no explicit 18+ rule, and has no explicit rule against deepfakes. Add the renewal and refund contradictions, and there is too much you cannot check before paying.
If you want an AI image generator, the Promptchan test drive covers one whose terms explicitly ban non-consensual deepfakes and depicting real people without consent.
FAQ
Is SoulGen free?
Not as far as the official pages show. The site title says "Free AI Video Generator", but the pricing page listed no free plan or free credits on Oct 25, 2026.
How much does SoulGen cost?
Pro is $12.99 for one month with 100 credits, or $90.99 for 12 months with 1,200 credits, as listed on the pricing page on Oct 25, 2026. The yearly price is a first-purchase promotion.
Is SoulGen safe?
I have concerns. The site names no legal entity, the Terms do not require users to be 18 and allow minors under supervision, and there is no explicit ban on deepfakes or images of real people. Deletion tools, on the other hand, are clear.
Who owns SoulGen?
The site does not say. Its Terms state it operates from Hong Kong under Hong Kong law. An App Store search result named WAVE DANCE INTELLENGIC LIMITED as developer, but I could not confirm it.
Can I get a refund from SoulGen?
Possibly, but the rules conflict. The Terms allow a refund only if you never created an image; the Return Policy allows one within 14 days if no credits were used.
Paper check: 5.5/10
Ten yes/no checks against the official pages, checked Oct 25, 2026. Half a point when the answer is unclear. A paid crash test replaces this score. How the paper score works.
